Urban Art Festival

Artwork by Solo-One in Miriam Makeba street, Newtown
International Urban Artists created various new artworks in Johannesburg. They participated in the City of Gold Urban Art festival that was held in early April. International reknown artists Solo-One, Akut and Kid Kréol&Boogie painted walls in Newtown, Yeoville and the CBD.
Falk Lehman, aka Akut, art is well known in Germany. Along with his creative partner, Jasmine Siddiqui (aka Hera) they combine drawings and spraypaint to create unique artwork that was published in several books worldwide. Together they form the duo known as HERAKUT.

The London artist Solo-One combine his comic-book style with contemporary issues to create impressive wall pieces. His artwork of a blue wolf follows you as you walk past on the sidewalk of Miriam Makeba street in Newtown.

Local Graffitis, Mars, Rekso, Zesta and Bias worked together on wall in Phillips street in the Jo’burg CBD. They were later joined by Solo-One to complete the piece that stretched the full length of the street.
